Chincoteague, VA - The Ponies are gone..but the Fish are ON!
Our first stop was at Tom's Cove Park in Chincoteague, VA.. a place famous for the wild pony swim across the channel.. which we just missed. Billy was not going to let that put a damper on things, as he set out on his bike to make friends in the campground he found himself on a pier talking to an 'Old Salty Dog' fishing alone in the 100 degree hot sun and humidity. Next thing we know Billy hauls the fish in and runs over to the Spice Bus to see if we can keep it as a pet or eat it! Wow... talk about black-or-white options!
I convinced him the right thing would be to let the fish go back to the water and when he hauls in a fish big enough to feed the family I'll worry about it then.
Here is a shot of the lighthouse on Assateague Island.
Very nice place, just wish it was not hot as Haiti while we were there... having scooters to get around the island would have been very helpful. In any case I fired up the little Weber Smokey Joe and thru some burgers , shrimp and scallops on for an RVers version of surf-n-turf. I got the seafood at a small shack run by a guy on Bebe Rd, just outside the campground.
Tomorrow the Spice Bus hits the road Long and Hard..... ughhh!
